BUKIT MERTAJAM, Sept 2 (Sin Chew Daily) — A kind-hearted tuition teacher has been picking up used face masks regularly.

Terri Tang, 42, posts pictures of discarded face masks she has collected, on Facebook, and calls for the public to care for our environment.

During an interview with Sin Chew Daily, Tang said she is aware there is a limit to her action of picking up used face masks. Thus, she urges members of the public to join her.

Since April, Tang has been picking up face masks in the neighborhood, about 20 to 30 of them each time. There was a time she even collected 60 used face masks!

Tang said parents should let their children take part in picking up trash for them to learn.

After her pictures of picking up face masks were shared by a Facebook group in Bukit Mertajam, many Facebook users have praised her for the selfless act.

Tang said she was not expecting any praises and her purpose was to enhance public awareness in conserving the environment and paying attention to discarded face masks.

Several days ago, Tang returned to Juru where she started to collect garbage and used face masks with more than ten members of the public.

In two hours, they collected about 20 bags of garbage and 500 pieces of used face masks!

Through the social media, she has called for more volunteers to help pick up used face masks.
