PETALING JAYA, Aug 6 (Sin Chew Daily) — Brazil's Ambassador to Malaysia Ary Norton de Murat Quineella falls in love with durian after he had the first taste of the King of Fruits.

He particularly craves Musang King and does not se it as a type of fruit actually.

Besides durian, the ambassador also loves nasi lemak, a very common food among Malaysians.

Accompanied by Hudson Caleeira, the second secretary at the Embassy of Brazil in Kuala Lumpur, Ary Norton recently paid Sin Chew Daily a visit.

He was welcomed by editor-in-chief Kuik Cheng Kang and editorial advisor Pook Ah Lek.

Ary Norton finds it easy to adapt to life in Malaysia as English is widely spoken in this multicultural society even though he does not speak any Malay or Chinese.

The ambassador arrived in the country early this year before the Movement Control Order was implemented by the government to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ary Norton has very high regards for the preventive measures adopted by the Malaysian government to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.

He and his wife, who is the Brazilian Ambassador to Singapore, have not been seeing each other for five months because of the virus.

They thought they could see each other regularly as Singapore is just next to Malaysia.

Unfortunately, both Singapore and Malaysia have decided to close their borders and imposed their own lockdowns to curb the virus.

They could only contact each other via WhatsApp.
