Kluang old folks’ home to reopen Friday

KLUANG, Aug 5 (Sin Chew Daily) – The Kluang old folks' home which forms a coronavirus infection cluster is expected to reopen on Friday as there have been no new cases reported for the past 12 days.

Kluang district health officer Dr Mohd Nizam Subaher confirmed with Sin Chew Daily that the old folks' home would reopen after tomorrow if no more cases are reported.

Mr Hu, person-in-charge at the old folks' home, pointed out that the quarantine imposed on the home would be lifted at twelve midnight tomorrow. He has been informed by Kluang Hospital that infected patients undergoing treatment at the hospital have now recovered and will be back at the home after they are discharged on Friday.

The old folks' home reported its first fatal COVID-19 case on July 19, and the cluster now has a total of 17 infections.

It has been sealed off by the police since July 20.
