KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Sin Chew Daily) — An online 3D KL Comic Week jointly organized by the cultural division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, Taipei Comic Artist Labor Union and the Malaysia Comicker Union, was launched on July 15.

The online exhibition will feature some 250 pieces of comics divided into three main categories.

Taiwan Township 368 Postcard Exhibition is the first series in July showcasing a total of 100 pieces of artworks. The drawings feature a total of 368 towns in Taiwan by artists in 2017.

Next on the list are drawings of super heroes by Taiwanese and Malaysian artists, scheduled to be featured in August.

The last category will feature artworks paying tribute to medical frontliners battling the COVID-19 pandemic in both Malaysia and Taiwan. A total of 50 paintings by Malaysian and Taiwanese artists will be exhibited in mid-August.

Five online live sharing sessions have been held so far and have received overwhelming response from the public.

The artists shared their experiences in drawing as well as their views on the comic market. The sharing sessions have been uploaded on the portal with English subtitles.

The exhibition portal also features videos with renowned comic artists such as Zheng Yanyun, Lai Youxian and others demonstrating their drawing skills.

The Taiwan-Malaysia International Comic Week originally scheduled for end of June was cancelled due to the coronavirus and the event was later taken online through the creation of an online portal.

The portal is in both English and Chinese, targeting the comic market of the two languages throughout the world by promoting comics drawn by artists in Malaysia and Taiwan.
