Anwar remains PH’s choice of PM

PETALING JAYA, July 6 (Sin Chew Daily) – The Pakatan Harapan supreme council has decided to name PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the pact's prime ministerial candidate.

The council has also resolved to authorize Anwar to continue negotiating with Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal and representatives from other parties with regards to this matter.

The PH supreme council issued a joint statement by Anwar, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng this afternoon.

Besides naming Anwar as PH's prime ministerial candidate, this morning's meeting also discussed the proposal for Shafie to become prime minister.

"PH presidential council's position is that any effort to recapture the people's mandate must be made with the support of all quarters, and has therefore authorized Anwar to negotiate with all relevant parties.”

Meanwhile, the PH presidential council also pointed out in the statement that in the event of a snap election, state governments led by PH will not be dissolved but will run for a full term.

Today's meeting also resolved to reject any motion tabled by prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in the Parliament to replace Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof and his deputy Nga Kor Ming.
