PKR says ‘no’ to Mahathir’s proposal

PETALING JAYA, June 29 (Sin Chew Daily) – PKR is unperturbed by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's proposal to make Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal as PH++ prime ministerial candidate.

A PKR source told Sin Chew Daily the party's central committee meeting yesterday did not talk about the "Shafie-Anwar-Mukhriz" formula officially, adding that party leaders only lightly mentioned the issue and none of the leaders were supportive of it.

"We didn't officially talk about it. We don't care about it unless DAP and Amanah propose to discuss the issue in the next PH presidential council meeting.

"Our position remains the same as what the party's supreme council has decided earlier on: to support party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.

"Mahathir's proposal is meant to humiliate Anwar, not because he really wants Shafie to be PM. Bear in mind Shafie's party is also multiracial and not 100% Malay party."
