KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 (Sin Chew Daily) — The wife rides a motorcycle while the disabled husband is driving at the speed of 60-70km per hour to escort her for a 200km ride from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh!
Para athlete Muhamad Firdaus Ibrahim's video on Twitter received netizens' attention. The video showed him driving about 100m behind a motorcycle at the speed of 60-70km per hour to ensure his wife Siti Fatimah Mohd Nor is safe.
Firdaus had planned to relocate from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh in April. Due to the enforcement of Movement Control Order (MCO), the relocation plan was deferred until the government allowed interstate travel on June 9.
Some netizens questioned why he did not courier the motorcycle instead.
Firdaus said, "My wife plans to move by herself. Now that the government has relaxed the ban on interstate travel, we decide to relocate by ourselves. Right from the beginning, my wife has volunteered to ride the motorcycle."
In the video, he said: "If I can, I will ride the motorcycle.”
Firdaus thanked the wife repeatedly and felt sorry for her to be the one riding the motorcycle instead.
Firdaus lost both of his legs in a road accident when he was 16 years old. Now he is a para athlete tennis player.
Firdaus married Siti Fatimah last year and the relocation to Ipoh was to secure a job.
The video uploaded on Twitter has since been shared by more than 17,000 people as of 13:00 on June 15.
