KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 (Sin Chew Daily) — Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof announced that he had accepted former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's no-confidence motion against prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to be tabled at the Dewan Rakyat.

The Speaker said in a statement today that the motion would be brought to the Dewan Rakyat for debate.

However, he rejected another motion from Tun Mahathir to retain him as Dewan Rakyat Speaker until the Parliament is dissolved.

As the May 18 parliamentary sitting will only discuss government affairs and bills, the no-confidence motion against the prime minister will only be tabled earliest in July.
