MEF: 14-day paid leave unfair to employers

PETALING JAYA, Mar 17 (Sin Chew Daily) — Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) executive director Datuk Hj Shamsuddin Bardan said it was unfair for employers to bear the employees' 14-day salaries when the movement control order is in practice.

He told Sin Chew Daily in a telephone interview that at least five days should be deducted from annual leave or treated as unpaid leave.

"If an employee has fewer than five days of annual leave, it should be converted to unpaid leave and employers will only give nine days of paid leave."

"We hope to have a win-win situation for all. We will inform our members the MEF's decision as soon as possible."
