MELAKA, Mar 3 (Sin Chew Daily) — DAP Melaka secretary Damian Yeo Shen Li wrote on Facebook that Adly Zahari is still Melaka chief minister and that he needs not resign as instructed by the state secretary.

Yeo, who is Duyung state assemblyman, pointed out that the state secretary mentioned Articles 7(2)(a) and 7(4). Article 7(2)(a) says the Yang di-Pertua Negeri shall appoint a chief minister to preside over the state executive council a member of the legislative assembly who in his judgment likely to command the confidence of a majority of the members of the state assembly.

Yeo said Adly Zahari who commands the support of 11 assemblymen is still chief minister because the other side has three members who desire to be chief minister.

"Until and unless they choose one member whom they think command the confidence, Adly is still CM.

"As such, the state secretary has no authority whatsoever to ask Adly to resign."
