PETALING JAYA, Jan 29 (Sin Chew Daily)– Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) executive director Datuk Shamsuddin Bardan said during an interview with Sin Chew Daily that Malaysian companies should enforce 14-day mandatory self-quarantine leave for their employees returning from China.

He said employers should approve the application for their employees going on self-quarantine leave.

He also hoped the government would issue relevant guidelines to encourage private sector companies to adopt this policy in containing the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus.

However, he said, from what he knew there were no companies adopting the measure at this moment although some tertiary institutions had enforced the measure on their students before they were tested negative for the coronavirus.
