PETALING JAYA, Jan 10 (Sin Chew Daily) — The prime minister's office announced today that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be the acting education minister.

The prime minister's office said in a statement that the cabinet meeting on January 8 agreed that Tun Mahathir would be the acting education minister with effect from January 3 until a new minister is appointed.
