MITI approves Tesla’s application to import BEVs into Malaysia.

PETALING JAYA: Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said in a statement today that his ministry had approved Tesla’s application to import battery electric vehicles (BEVs) into Malaysia.

Tesla will establish a Head Office, Tesla Experience & Service Centers, and Supercharger network in the country, simultaneously creating skilled and better paying jobs for Malaysians.

The minister also said the entry of Tesla had been facilitated by the international trade and industry ministry through the introduction of the BEV Global Leaders initiative aiming to help boost BEV demand in the local market.

Tesla is the first applicant of this MITI initiative.
