Coal art

Art installation “Coalescence” created by British designer Paul Cocksedge at Liverpool Cathedral in northwest England.

“Coalescence” is a 6-meter diameter piece of art made up of thousands of pieces of UK-sourced anthracite coal, which is high-luster and low in impurities.

Prompting questions around energy consumption, the history of fossil fuels and the need to reach net zero, it features over half a ton of coal representing the amount of power needed to light one 200W light bulb for a year.
