UPKO nominates party president for minister

PETALING JAYA: The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) president Ewon Benedick said as a member of the Pakatan Harapan coalition, he hoped his party could get at least a ministerial position in the unity government.

Benedick said he had made the proposal to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He also did not deny that UPKO had nominated him as a candidate for minister.

“Indeed the party has nominated me, and we have submitted our proposal,” he admitted.

He also said he had met Anwar but they did not talk about the appointment of ministers, which is the prime minister’s prerogative.
