PUTRAJAYA, Aug 10 (Sin Chew Daily) – A total of 19,991 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, all locally transmitted.

Selangor reported 7,338 new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,374), Kedah (1,830), Sabah (1,383), Johor (1,344), Kelantan (1,030), Perak (953), Sarawak (836), Penang (743), Melaka (578), Negeri Sembilan (564), Pahang (539) and Terengganu (378).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,299,767 confirmed cases and  1,057,843 recoveries (including 16,258 recovering today) at 81.39% recovery rate.

201 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 11,162.

There are currently 230,762 active cases, including 1,096 at ICUs, 570 requiring ventilators.
