7 MPs absent from special sitting

KUALA LUMPUR, July 26 (Sin Chew Daily) – In addition to two Members of Parliament who have tested positive for COVID-19, five other MPs were also absent from this morning's special parliamentary sitting, including two cabinet ministers.

Housing and local government minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin is being quarantined as she has come into close contact with a COVID-19 patient, while youth and sports minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican is currently in Japan for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

DAP's MP for Tanjong Chow Kon Yeow and Pejuang's MP for Jerlun Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir were also absent from this morning's special sitting as they have been identified by the health ministry as close contacts of COVID-positive individuals.

Parti Amanah's MP for Shah Alam Khalid Abdul Samad was also absent. It is unsure whether he has also been identified as a close contact or because of his recent surgery.
