Situation in haze-stricken areas improve

KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 (Bernama) -- The situation in haze-stricken areas continues to improve with no areas registering unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings until 7am today.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE) website, 28 areas recorded moderate API readings while 23 others good API readings.

API readings of between 0 and 50 are categorised as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (dangerous).

In Banting, Selangor, the API reading dropped to 74 (moderate) from unhealthy (114) at 5pm yesterday.

In Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, the API reading also declined to 82 (moderate) from 114 (unhealthy) yesterday.

API reading in Petaling Jaya decreased to 60 (moderate) from 101 (unhealthy)yesterday and Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur dropped to 84 (moderate) from 104 (unhealthy) yesterday.

The public can refer to the portal apims.doe.gov.my being operated by DOE to obtain API readings in their respective areas.
