PAC to meet NFC reps on Wednesday

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (PAC) will start an internal hearing on the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) on Wednesday, PAC chairman Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid said today.

He spoke to reporters after chairing a PAC meeting at Parliament House.

NFC had come under fire and gained public interest following the release of the Auditor-General's Report 2010 last month which revealed that the public-funded RM250-million cattle project in Gemas was "in a mess".

Azmi said the PAC will also meet with representatives of 1Malaysia Development Board (1MDB) tomorrow to be briefed on the entity and its activities.

He said the PAC had received a letter from a Member of Parliament regarding 1MDB and it felt that the matters raised in the letter should be looked into.

"We wish to obtain more information on 1MDB, including its activities and partnerships," he said.

Formed in 2009, 1MDB is a government-owned strategic company aimed at driving long-term sustainable economic development by forging strategic global partnerships and promoting foreign direct investment.
