  • UM's statement says the university's auxiliary police have found seditious posters from Kon and suspected him of intending to disrupt the convocation ceremony.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 (Sin Chew Daily) -- Universiti Malaya issued a statement today to explain why former chairman of University of Malaya Association of New Youth (UMANY) Edan Kon Hua En was barred from the convocation ceremony yesterday.

The statement said the university's auxiliary police had found seditious posters from Kon and suspected him of intending to disrupt the convocation ceremony.

The statement also said the university authorities decided to step up security checks yesterday after another graduate Wong Yan Ke protested with a placard calling for the resignation of vice chancellor Datuk Abdul Rahim Hashim the day before.
