PETALING JAYA, Aug 19 (Sin Chew Daily) -- Former IGP Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Noor said the government must rescind the permanent residency of controversial Indian Muslim preacher Zakir Naik and send him back to India.

Rahim Noor told The Star even though Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had said if Zakir was proven to have acted against the country's laws, his PR status would be revoked. However, he said it would take time to investigate.

“My personal view is that he had touched on religion and other matters that hurt the feelings of non-Muslims in the country, especially the Hindus. We should not wait for the outcome of the investigation.”

The former IGP also said the government must tell Zakir to go back to India and face the laws there.
