PUTRAJAYA, Aug 6 (Sin Chew Daily) -- Deputy education minister Teo Nie Ching said a consensus had been reached after meeting representatives from Dongjiaozong and Chinese and Tamil educational organizations today over the issue of introducing Jawi calligraphy in Year Four Bahasa Malaysia textbooks for Chinese and Tamil primary schools.

She said all parties agreed to the inclusion of an introduction to Jawi calligraphy in the textbooks, but not the learning of the language.

She said after the clarification, there should be no more doubts over this matter.

She added that the organizations were of the opinion that there should not be any form of tests on Jawi calligraphy, which the education ministry agreed.
