PAS Youth urges action against signatories of joint statement

  • PAS' education bureau chief Muhtar Suhaili urges the authorities to take action against the signatories of a joint statement against Jawi.

PETALING JAYA, Aug 2 (Sin Chew Daily) -- PAS Youth accused the 13 DAP elected representatives and DAPSY leaders of trying to spread hatred in the society by signing a joint statement against the inclusion of Jawi calligraphy in Bahasa Malaysia textbooks.

PAS' education bureau chief Muhtar Suhaili said in a statement last night that the move by these DAP grassroots leaders showed that they did not respect the official status of Islam and Bahasa Malaysia, and he urged the authorities to take action against the signatories.

“Jawi is part of the legacy of Muslims, the majority indigenous ethnic group of this country.

"It doesn't belong to Muslims or Malays only but all people in Malaysia," he asserted.
