On the Eve of his installation, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah emphasized during a media interview that Malaysians must do everything to prevent religion and their differences from creating divisions among people of different backgrounds.

His Majesty reminded all citizens that they must not categorize people by religion, and must never politicize religion.

If anyone tries to politicize religion, resentment could be sparked off among the different religions and ethnic communities.

In addition, His Majesty also stressed that the government should draw up policies that will allow all Malaysians to enjoy the fruit of the nation's success together and consolidate national unity and harmony.

The King said as the Head of State, he had an obligation to unite all the people and promote economic prosperity.

From here we can see that His Majesty highly values national solidarity.

With a vast array of issues plaguing the country in recent years, including perennial racial and religious issues raised by irresponsible politicians causing tremendous uneasiness among Malaysians, efforts to unite our multicultural population have invariably met with strong resistance and challenges.

The King has emphasized the need not to politicize religion, and this shows that he really cares about the well-being of Malaysians, He has also vowed to help relieve their burdens while promoting greater unity, tolerance and mutual respect in our multiracial society.

Malaysia is viewed by many as a role model for multicultural countries. Indeed many countries have sent their delegates here to learn how we have done this. Racial harmony and tolerance have become a trademark of this country that has lured tourists from across the world here for this unique and precious experience.

Racial and religious issues have been hijacked by some of the country's politicians for their own gains after the 2018 general elections.

Exploiting religious issues to win the favor of voters is nothing new after we witnessed a change in federal administration post-GE14, and this is what His Majesty is really concerned about.

In view of this, His Majesty has vowed to take up the huge responsibility of uniting the nation just before he is officially installed as the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

He said while he might not be able to fulfill this wish completely, a 10% improved is already a good achievement for him.

The loving care of His Majesty should be well reciprocated by all Malaysians. We must seriously take His Majesty's advice that being born with different skin colors doesn't mean we can stay divided. For sure we can enlarge our economic cake and enjoy our prosperity together.
