21 arrested over USJ temple commotion: police

SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- The number of people arrested by the police following a commotion at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ 25, Putra Heights yesterday, has increased to 21 people, from 17 people yesterday, said Selangor police chief Datuk Mazlan Mansor.

He said the latest arrest involved four men, with two of them arrested yesterday evening and the other two, early today.

The two suspects arrested this morning were in a car in which police found a machete, he told a media conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters here today.

Mazlan said a firemen from the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Department was injured when he was attacked while putting out a fire on a torched vehicle outside the temple ground.

So far, 23 vehicles were torched and a fire engine was damaged in the incident, he added.
