Moderate air quality at nine locations

  • According to DOE's website, air quality at nine locations across Malaysia worsened as of noon today, including Shah Alam and Klang.

PETALING JAYA, July 25 (MySinchew) -- Haze is back in Malaysia!

According to the environment department website, air quality at nine locations across the country deteriorated from "good" to "moderate" as of 12.00p.m. Tuesday, including Nilai (51), Shah Alam (54), Klang (60), Seri Manjung (53), Pegoh Ipoh (51), Tasek Ipoh (55), Taiping (52), Kulim Hi-Tech (52) and Sungai Petani (53).

In another development, Indonesia's environment and forestry minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar said yesterday the government planned to permanently stop issuing new permits for the conversion of virgin forests and peatlands in the country.

The ban was first issued by former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in 2011, and was extended for a third time this May by president Joko Widodo.
