Malaysians among the most benevolent in the world

  • According to UK-based Charities Aid Foundation, Malaysia is the 10th most benevolent country in the world in its 2015 World Giving Index.

PETALING JAYA, Nov 27 (MySinchew) -- According to UK-based Charities Aid Foundation, Malaysia scores 52 points in its 2015 World Giving Index, making it to the global top ten.

The index is based on three criteria: the amount of donation, participation in voluntary works and willingness to help strangers. Malaysia scores exceptionally in handing out a hand to strangers.

According to the latest index, dirt-poor Myanmar nationals are the most benevolent in the world, performing better than second and third placed United States and New Zealand.

Only five G20 countries make it to the top 20, showing that citizens from a wealthy nation may not necessarily be the most helpful and caring.
